Analysis of work from other centres

Angel Dust – Angel Dust is a very effective title sequence, as it is so simplistic in terms of the camerawork, and uses after effects to add depth to the video.

The video takes place in a bedroom and we can see posters in the background and elements which showed it was what is considered as a “typical teens” room. It also helped to show the vulnerability of the girl and corresponded with the idea of her being a naïve individual.

There is basic camerawork as the young girl talks directly into what is meant to look like a webcam. It is positioned at a mid shot, which is what would be shown in a basic webcam. There are close up shots of different body parts of an unknown man which suggests that this character may well be a bad one, so we don’t identify with him.
It shows his chin with sweat dripping down it and his fingers typing. This in itself connotes the idea of a sexual predator online trying to lure in victims, therefore giving the audience a bit of an idea of what to expect.

The sound had an orchestral aspect to it throughout, slightly changing and increasing in speed and then going back to the original, which created an eerie atmosphere and corresponded with the theme. There was an occasional beat of a drum which helped to build and create tension in the scene and keep the audience on the edge of their seats. There was use of sound effects such as typing when this was seen on screen.

The main use of editing was in after effects, where they have managed to make the screen come out of itself and portray the social networking site and other images. This was extremely effective because it highlighted the idea of danger in a social networking site but also just helped us see what she was seeing which included the audience. Not only that but it was very interesting to look at.

The way the titles appear is very intriguing because it layers her talking into the camera with the typing of the predator and takes it in and out of focus when presenting the titles. The font makes it appear very professional and definitely helped to boost the title sequence.
