Intertextuality (PICS WILL SOON COME)

Intertextuality is a term to describe the visual referencing between films, where some aspects of a film may be 'borrowed' by another film, such as camera angles, parts of mise en scene, snippets of  sound or methods of editing.

The film 'Psycho' is known for its legendary shower scene and has influenced lots of other films.

What lies beneath:
- A man carries a dying woman into a bath and turns the tap on. A dog appears at the end.
This film has borrowed the bathroom concept from Psycho; where she enters the bath.

Fatal Attraction:
- The aspects borrowed from Psycho is the bath, blood in the water and the attack in the bathroom.

The Stepfather:
- Similarly to Psycho, the man attacks his wife in the bathroom and pulls the shower curtain and it breaks.

Succubus:
- Like Psycho, someone enters with a knife, the victim is taking a shower and gets stabbed in the shower
