Conventions of a film opening

The convention of film openings mostly have a title sequence. This is where the company names such as Warner Brothers, and Paramount are introduced.

The Openingsof movies usually set the genre of the movie, the background music is very importantFor example in Psycho u had the names in the title sequence fragmented this could suggest violent behaviour.

-Psycho:
When we saw the movies name on screen, it was almost fragmented to make us feel uncomfortable, and also lets us know from the beginning that there will be violence involved. (see left)

There was also orchestral music which added to the suspense because there were fast credits; so it adds to the showing of the credits to the audience and the genre of the movie. (Link is provided)

Trainspotting:The opening sequence of this film was mainly trying to introduce us to the characters within the movie.

The theme song for this trailer is 'just for life' by iggy pop, this is a very fast paced song which adds to the element of fun and not carelessness which is portrayed in this trailer.
