Convention of film opening

Film Opening Conventions

The main convention most of the film openings have is a title sequence were they introduce the main production companies names such as Paramount and Warner Brothers, followed by the names of the main actors and the title of the movie. Then the title sequence introduces the sub actors and the technical crew such as casting, costume designer, sound design, music, production designer and editor. At the end the more important people are mentioned such as the executive producers, director of photography and at the very end the director.

Openings usually set the genre of the movie, the background music gives away the genre or perhaps the style of font. For example in Psycho you had the slashed names in the title sequence that may have suggested violent and abusive behaviour, from the title sequence alone as the audience I had some information about what the film was going to be about.
